Units of Work

Share:

The SI unit of Work is joule(J).
1 J of work is said to be done by a force of 1 N if it displaces a body by 1 m in the direction  of the force.

1 Joule = 1 N x 1 m

The CGS unit Work is erg
1 erg = 1 dyne x 1 cm

Since,
1 Joule = 1 Newton x 1 metre

Relationship,
1 Joule = 1 N x 1 m
= 10^5 dyne x 100 cm
= 10^7 erg
